Since its foundation in 1980, Kyosemi Corporation has been working as a research and development-oriented company that supports the progress of cutting-edge industry by its optoelectronic technology. Today, it conducts business in the fields of opto semiconductor devices and solar power generation, and commercializes and markets original products including optical communication devices, optical sensing and control devices, and the spherical photovoltaic solar cell Sphelar®.
Carving out new fields with flexible ideas and a positive can-do spirit free from preconceived ideas—an embodiment of this attitude of ours is the spherical photovoltaic solar cell, developed using the spherical silicon single crystal technology that uses the free fall of melting silicon through a drop tube. This technology has not only significantly reduced the loss and energy of silicon production compared to those of conventional technologies but also brought about an epoch-making spherical solar cell that can achieve efficient photoelectric conversion by receiving light from every direction. The cell is expected to contribute to the exploitation of solar energy and the improvement of the global environment in the twenty-first century.
